I’ve talked about this mountain, The Molar, in the last few posts. It was a holy place for the Mayans and now for the Christians.
This view made it clear to me why people would come to commune with their God or gods. It’s a place to lift yourself up literally and symbolically to the heavens. The clouds forming below you cut you off from the everyday world.
The jagged, volcanic rock below your feet stand out in juxtaposition to the clouds. The sharp, black rocks are a dark echo of the white, fluffy clouds surrounding the mountain. It could be taken as an analogy of our lives compared to that of the heavens. The perfection we strive for.
