The path up Malinche wasn’t as difficult as the last photo showed, at least not at the start.
This was my first real mountain hike. The hike I did in Guatemala was tough, but it wasn’t such a sustained upward climb. The start of the hike, through these beautiful trees, definitely gave me a false sense of ease with the hike.
I started in the cool of the early morning with the sun just coming though the thick trees. It was a beautiful hike and the environment would change drastically by the time I reached the peak.
The amount of the change and the difficulty definitely surprised me.
